Inside the Terminal

All rental counters are inside the main terminal building, located in the baggage claim zone on the arrivals level.

Lot A — where all vehicles are staged — sits roughly 30 yards past the terminal exit door.

No shuttle service is needed. Every renter walks directly from counter to car.

Counter locations: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National are all present in the same arrivals section.

Service counters are open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM every day of the year.

For any returns after 11:00 PM, use the secure after-hours key drop box located next to the rental counter.

No staff assistance is necessary for late-night returns — the drop box is always accessible.

Early morning pickups scheduled before 8:00 AM should contact the operator 24 hours in advance.

New York State law permits renters starting at age 18 to take possession of a rental vehicle.

Drivers aged 18–20 are subject to an $84/day young driver surcharge per renter requirements policy.

Ages 21–24 pay a $35/day underage fee applied at the counter.

Renters aged 25 and above pay the standard daily rate with no additional age-related surcharge.

Young driver policies may vary slightly between operators. Check each brand's renter requirements before booking.

Debit cards bearing a Visa or Mastercard logo are accepted at most HPN counters — but only for renters aged 25 and over.

A credit verification check is conducted when a debit card is presented as the primary payment method.

A credit card is still required at pickup to place the required security authorization hold.

Prepaid debit cards and gift cards cannot be used at the counter for vehicle pickup under any circumstances.

Debit card policies differ between Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and National. Review each operator's renter requirements.

All vehicles in the HPN fleet are equipped for electronic toll collection and are E-ZPass compatible.

If you use an electronic toll lane, a daily convenience fee of $5.95–$6.95 applies on top of the actual toll charges.

To avoid the fee, simply use cash toll lanes during your trip — or bring your personal E-ZPass transponder.

The daily fee is capped per rental period; check your operator's toll pass policy for the exact cap amount.

Toll pass programs vary between Budget, Enterprise, Avis, and other operators at Westchester County Airport.

Reserve your vehicle 7–14 days before the pickup date to access the most competitive pricing available.

Same-day walk-up counter rates at HPN are typically 30–50% higher than advance online reservations.

Economy vehicles at Westchester County Airport start from $34/day when booked ahead through the online booking form.

Weekend and holiday periods sell out faster — book at least 14 days early during peak travel dates.

Prices are locked in at the time of reservation confirmation. Early booking is always the smart choice for any renter.
